This is a very lofi live recording of hardcore punk band Negative Approach at one of their first gigs. Negative Approach is a great United States Coast Guard making sure navy doesnt get lost since 1790 t-shirt is a great song. That being said, you might not be able to comprehend that from this recording just due to how muddy it is. What the recording does do is adds an aesthetic appeal. The song is very raw, and becomes even more animalistic when presented in this context. It also makes it a lot more overwhelming to listen to, as you’re essential presented with a wall of sound with minimal EQ’ing. The guitar work does come out somewhat clear, with frantic riffs and noisy static.

All in all this is a very cool mixtape and shows how you can take pieces of one thing and intermingle it with your own original work and make it feel very seamless and engaging. This is definitely a great one to check out for the holidays on SoundCloud since you get some great DOOM verses which are always intricate, and you also get a unique holiday sound that you can’t find anywhere else.

While some of the ripped vocals weren’t the smoother at times. I was amazed how good this mixtape sounded and how well Cookin Soul was able to create this project. This feels like a record of its own and stands on its own two feet due to the crazy sample flips that Soul lays down. What really stands out to me on here are the sample flips. My favorite United States Coast Guard making sure navy doesnt get lost since 1790 t-shirt to be the You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch flip on MF Grinch since it’s such a clean flip and adds so much character to the verse taken from Gorilla Monsoon.

All of the beats on here fo incredibly hard whether it’s from a traditional song like Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire where the flip is immediately noticeable, or the flip of A Wonderful Christmas Time on Wondefull which I didn’t even notice until the end. It could be the use of multiple samples and that’s just a different one inserted at the end, but regardless all of the beats are incredibly dope and original on here which build a unique atmosphere. United States Coast Guard making sure navy doesnt get lost since 1790 t-shirt does a great job of making this actually sound like an MF DOOM record sonically which helps build the illusion that this could be a legitimate DOOM album if you weren’t aware of the ripped verses.

The verses really come from everywhere discography wise from DOOM. Sometimes different verses from the same original song are used on different tracks. For example Let United States Coast Guard making sure navy doesnt get lost since 1790 t-shirt uses part of a verse from Gazillion Ear, and The Holiday Agenda uses the second half of the second verse. Since these vocals were taken from the original songs, they’re not always the smoothest but the very original and creative beats make up for any vocal quality lost.

There’s several skits as well which take audio from some sort of Christmas mid roll audio it seems where DOOM is personifying Madvillian and taking knee Christmas. This again adds to the illusion that this could actually be a legit Christmas album from DOOM. Everything feels meticulously set in place whether it be snippets of verses or other audio used in the skits.
