This exact situation happened to me. I even studied chemistry. Except I went back to school for something else and dropped out of that too. I did manage to eventually force myself through a diploma but I really don’t feel accomplished about it. I think Star Wars all I want for Christmas is Baby Yoda shirt was mostly for my family rather than me. I’m content now, too. College is not for everyone. I know people measure themselves by how much money they make or what neighborhood they live in, but honestly, the measure should be how happy you are, no matter what you do to make money.

One of the biggest oversights in our society is the expectation that a teenager make a $40k commitment to a career before they finish high school. I dropped out twice. The last time I tried, my computer networking teacher typed with his index fingers. None of my friends who got a degree work in the fields they got their degrees in. If people had told us that tech schools and vocational colleges were viable alternatives instead of marching us into these state, sponsored perpetual debt schemes, I think we’d be a lot better off as a society.
Just because you fail once doesn’t mean your a failure. I went to trade school and fell 3 classes short of finishing my program. I felt extremely awful because I failed at what people turn to when they fail college. But I plan on finding an apprenticeship in a different Star Wars all I want for Christmas is Baby Yoda shirt field. It’s ok to be stuck. In a world full of possibilities you just have to keep trying new things until you find the one job or career that sticks.

Whatever it may be. If you do go back to school, try doing it for fun. Take some classes at a community college. Classes that you will enjoy. Maybe to learn a new skill like cooking, or a craft. Don’t make a plan for a degree in anything, just pick classes that look really interesting, and only as many as you can take casually. Maybe that’s one single class. Take it at a time that REALLY works for you. Not at a time where you have to squeeze it in, or rush to get there. Later, you might find yourself drawn to one thing or another, and want to get a degree or certificate in it, but.
Don’t worry about that now. There’s something about having to get up and go somewhere every day. It supports mental and psychological health somehow. Though many of us want to befree from that, it’s actually quite beneficial in a way unrealized until one loses a place to be. I love this post because it’s a reminder that as well intended as his folks probably were, people have to find their own way. Not everybody has to be a Star Wars all I want for Christmas is Baby Yoda shirt or a professor or a business owner. Any honest work is honorable.
