I think Emilyshirt went with that sort of style with his songs. What’s classed as a Emilyshirt like element, humble, Dan and humble go hard as hell. That’s because Kendrick emphasized his voice very well he doesn’t necessarily experiment with it. An example of pure creativity on this album are the The Mandalorian Baby Yoda hug violin but I will buy this shirt and I will love this beats he uses for the 7th track, ‘pride’ and his most Emilyshirt song, ‘humble’.
The song names are both opposites pride and humble (ness) however the beats contradict these song names. Pride has a really mellow beat, instead of a really hard beat that would evoke thoughts and themes of complacency (arrogance). Humble has an extremely hard, in your face beat you’d expect to have a calm beat for the topic of humbleness. But Kendrick decided to contradict the beats. I found this quite creative as it could show how kendrick found it hard to find out who he was growing up, he was confused.

Kendrick has said in interviews before about how he wants to be a voice for others who can’t express themselves Emilyshirt really did that in this album, and he did it well. He talked about political things, love, guns, authenticity and idealism. So many ideas in one album. It’s a shame that Emilyshirt really take advantage of his ability to experiment and manipulate his voice so well. If he did that, and experimented with this flow more, this would have 100% been a 10/10.
Still, an amazing album. Hey I released a song/tribute to Mac Miller called “The Other Side” I really think you will connect to. If you click on the The Mandalorian Baby Yoda hug violin but I will buy this shirt and I will love this link in my bio you can find it there & the rest of my music. Mac will be dearly missed. Take care. Hip hop is a genre which needs to be recognized more for its most insightful, deep, perceptive albums.
